Foi a partir da simples/complexa explosão do "Big bang" que surgiu tudo isto? (Estrelas, planetas, galáxias,...) Aconteceu tudo nesse instante ou nos biliões de anos seguintes? Uma história muito comprida. Em resumo, as estrelas, galáxias e planetas ter-se-ão formado por esta ordem cronológica mas *não* no Big Bang. Apenas umas centenas de milhões de anos depois deste terá surgido a primeira estrela e, não muito tempo depois (mais um par de centenas de milhões de anos?), a primeira galáxia. As primeiras galáxias seriam pequenas e foram-se juntando até formar as maiores que vemos hoje em dia. Não sabemos quando terá surgido o primeiro planeta (nem se vai saber tão cedo) mas, se julgarmos pelo nosso Sistema Solar e pelos planetas que têm sido descobertos fora dele, terá sido quando o Universo já tinha metade da sua idade, no mínimo (cerca de seis mil milhões de anos). Was it from the simple/complex explosion of the Big Bang that all this came about? (Stars, planets, galaxies,…) Did all this happen at that moment or in the billions of years thereafter? This is a very long story. In short, stars, galaxies and planets formed, in that order, but *not* at the Big Bang. Only a few hundred million years later might there have been the first star and, not long after (a few other hundred million years?), the first galaxy. The first galaxies were likely small, and joined together to make the bigger galaxies we see today. We don't know when the first planet was made (nor will we so soon) by, if we judge by our Solar System, and by the planets discovered outside of it, it will have been when the Universe was already half as old as it is today (about six billion years old).
