Existe algum projeto para enviar uma nave para fora do Sistema Solar capaz de filmar ou fotografar essa parte do Universo? A "Innovative Interstellar Explorer" (IIE) é uma missão visionária da NASA cujo planeamento está a ser estudado desde 2003. O projeto pretende fazer chegar uma sonda até cerca de 200 UA do Sol (200 vezes a distância da Terra ao Sol) em 2044. Relembre-se que Plutão está a uma distância média do Sol de cerca de 40 UA e que a Voyager 1, lançada em 1977, é neste momento a sonda que mais se distanciou do Sol (128 UA), tendo entrado recentemente no meio interestelar. Os objetivos da missão IEE passam pela exploração da natureza do meio interestelar e a interação deste com a heliosfera. Conhecer melhor a formação e constituição da nossa Galáxia e do próprio Universo. Neste momento não existe uma data prevista para o lançamento mas este deverá ter em conta determinadas janelas para poder usufruir da assistência gravitacional de Júpiter a qual permitirá acelerar a nave até uma velocidade de aproximadamente 7 UA/ano. The "Innovative Interstellar Explorer" (IIE) is a visionary NASA mission, being planned since 2003. The project aims to bring a probe to about 200 au from the Sun, 200x the distance from Earth to the Sun, in 2044. We remind here that Pluto is at an average distance from the Sun of about 40 au, and that Voyager 1, launched in 1977, is currently the probe that is furthest from the Sun, at 128 AU, having recently entered the interstellar medium. The objectives of the IEE mission include: exploring the nature of the interstellar medium and its interaction with the heliosphere; get to know better the formation and constitution of our Galaxy and the Universe itself. At the moment, there is no scheduled date for the launch, but this should take into account certain windows to be able to take advantage of Jupiter's gravitational assistance, which will allow the acceleration of the spacecraft to a speed of approximately 7 ay/year.
