  Trata-se de uma estrela do tipo T-Tauri designada por 2MASS J05422123+2236471. As estrelas T Tauri têm brilho variável e estão normalmente associadas a nuvens de gás interestelar. São estrelas bastante jovens que estão ainda a começar a sua fase de estrela da Sequência Principal (relembre-se que o Sol entrou nesta fase há cerca de 5000 milhões de anos). A sua idade enquanto estrelas é de apenas alguns milhões de anos pelo que ainda estão rodeadas de discos de gás e poeiras resultantes do seu mecanismo de formação. As "asas" que se observam na imagem são formadas por estes restos de material.

It's a T-Tauri type star designated by 2MASS J05422123+2236471. T Tauri stars vary in brightness and are normally associated with interstellar gas clouds. These are very young stars that are just beginning their Main Sequence star phase (recall that the Sun entered this phase about 5 billion years ago). Their age as stars is only a few million years, so they are still surrounded by disks of gas and dust resulting from their formation mechanism. The "wings" seen in the image are formed by these material remains.
