Pergunta: Quero me iniciar na Astronomia e gostaria de saber que telescópio devo comprar (e onde comprar) para observar a Lua, e alguns planetas com muita definição. Vivo em Santa Cruz e é só para ver o céu a partir de casa. Mas queria um telescópio já com uma boa definição e com algumas garantias de qualidade.

Resposta: Se se vai iniciar em Astronomia, principalmente para a Lua e planetas (e.g. Jupiter e satélites) recomendo que começe por uns binóculos. Podem ser 7x50 e não precisam ser de super-qualidade (compra em qualquer loja de óptica ou fotografia a partir de 40 euros). Ainda antes, no entanto, acho que devia usar a sua vista para aprender a conhecer o céu (constelações, estrelas mais brilhantes, etc.). Para tal nada melhor que um planetário (software). Quanto ao telescópio, acho que deve ficar para mais tarde. Deve ser usado em locais mais ou menos escuros e após um contacto inicial com o céu a olho e com binóculos. Senão garanto que vai ficar desapontado. Mas posso-lhe dizer que já encontram razoáveis a partir dos 200 euros mas terão de vir do Continente (onde estão os representantes das melhores marcas mundiais: Meade e Celestron).

Answer: If you are entering Astronomy, especially to observe the Moon and planets (like Jupiter and its satellites), I recommend that you start with binoculars. They can be 7x50, and don't need to be high quality (you can buy them in any optics of photography store starting from 40€). Even before you do this, though, I think you should use your own vision to get to know the sky (constellations, brighter stars, etc.). For that, nothing is better than a (software) planetarium. With regards to the telescope, I think it should be kept for later. It should be used in darker places, and after an initial contact with the sky with the naked eye and binoculars. Otherwise, I guarantee that you will be disappointed. But I can tell you anyway that you can find reasonable telescopes from 200€ up, but they will have to come from the main land, where the best world brands have representatives, namely Meade and Celestron).
